Surgery For Hyperhidrosis

Endoscopic Thoracic Surgery or ETS is the most common form of Surgery for Hyperhidrosis or excessive body sweating. Like any operation on the human body, ETS does have it side-effects. It may be able to correct a disorder of your sweat glands in one area, but it could lead to complications in other areas.

To make the dangers of Hyperhidrosis Surgery via ETS known to you, let's discuss some of its most common side-effects:

1. After surgery, some patients would complain of dryness in their face and scalp. Some report altered body temperatures which are beyond the normal ranges. This is because you would lose the ability to sweat in your upper body.

2. You may be unable to sweat healthily from above the nipple line. The problem which surfaces is on how to release heat and lose sweat from your head and neck region.

3. In a fraction of patients, a decrease in heart rate has been observed. The resting heart rate falls below what is normal. Although they say it is not something to worry about, a change in heart rate is still something to reckon with.

Obviously, the primary side-effect of ETS is compensatory sweating. This is also referred to as reflex sweating. At least 40 to 60 percent of patients experience this kind of sweating.

Since the areas of the head, neck, arms, and palms have stopped sweating, other areas of the body will tend to compensate. For instance, compensatory sweating could happen in the soles of the feet. In contrast, the palms of the hands can get cold and clammy.

There could even be the rebound effect of too much forehead sweating. When sweating happens elsewhere than where it is supposed to be, expect it to be sudden and profuse.

In fact, the real danger is that anything can happen depending on the side effects of your particular Surgery for Hyperhidrosis. In the long run, being unable to self-regulate your body temperature will not be healthy for your metabolism at all.

Tips to Grow Your Height Naturally

Have you been thinking about how you may be able to grow taller? There are some exercises you can do that would help you. The spine, thighs and shine have the capability to stretch allowing you to be able to grow a little more. You should try the following exercises to lengthen the legs. I must say if there is any medical reason that may prevent you from doing these you should consult your doctor first.

An easy exercise is kicking. When you kick it exerts pressure to the thigh bone which gives it the ability to lengthen. Try doing front snap kicks by extending your leg and "snapping" out a kick. Try to keep your leg level or parallel to the ground and make the kick as fast as is appropriate for you.

Jumping is another exercise you can do but not just jumping up and down. You need to jump up on something. Depending on your strength level you can find something about 12 inches tall and work up to something higher. Whatever you use to jump onto, make sure it is sturdy enough. You basically just jump up on this and jump back down. Do some repetitions of these, rest between each jump if needed.

Riding a bike is a great way to strengthen the legs and lengthen them. If you like bike riding then this is something you would enjoy. Raise the bike seat a little higher than normal for you so you must reach out further with your legs as you pedal. A stationary bike would be just as beneficial.

The added benefit of doing these is that you would be getting a good workout along with lengthening the legs. You can do these exercises a few times a week to start and can combine them for a complete workout. Riding a bike is a low impact workout so you should be able to do this as much as you want.

Looking Taller As We Get Older

It's a fact of life that there are many people around the world that wish they were a little taller than they currently are. It is possible to increase your height by exercise and following good diet practices to keep your bones strong. Having strong bones can be a key to improving your height and following these tips will help get you started.

Do you realize that when we are very young we have over 100 more bones in our bodies than we do as adults? Many of these bones are actually just cartilage and as we grow and reach puberty, this cartilage hardens and fuses together to form solid bone. Also we have what are called growth plates at the ends of our long bones that lengthen as we grow. When we stop growing these growth plates are done, they will not grow anymore.

As adults we can exercise to make us look taller. You can alter your physical appearance to give the illusion of being taller. If you are heavier than you care to be, slimming down will make you look taller. Exercising during puberty is when a person can gain the most benefit in their growth enhancement. Intense exercise while younger will release the hormones that are what give you your growth spurts.

Do not neglect a healthy diet as an adult or child. You need to fuel your body with the proteins, amino acids and calcium for strong bones and healthy tissue. If you lack calcium in your diet you would be allowing your bones to weaken and lose their density. Especially at an older age is calcium important along with exercise to prevent you from getting shorter

The Key to Good Health - Five Must Do's

We often take good health for granted, that is until we lose it! It's often only when something ails us that we are forced to consider good health, or the lack of it, with a bit more thought.

Good health, or wellness, is not just about an absence of illness or disease, rather it's an overall feeling of well-being that's made up of how we feel depending on what factors are impacting upon that feeling at any one point in our lives.

Now whilst we might not be able to control all of the factors that cause us to suffer dis-ease in our day to day lives there are a number of simple precautions that we as individuals should all take in order to minimize at least some of the risks that too many of us fail to recognize until it's too late.

If you can follow the Five must do's you'll be well on your way to maintaining your good health.

Five good health must do's are as follows;

· Stop Smoking

Smoking is the number one killer in western society today. It kills approximately 440,000 Americans every year, that's 1,205 a DAY.

There's a myriad of websites offering advice that are available to those still smoking and we should all be working towards a smoke-free environment for all if the good health of all of us, smokers and non-smokers, is to be protected

· Eat well and exercise

According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, "poor diet and physical inactivity" are now causing 400,000 deaths a year in the United States.

A simple mixed diet including a minimum of 400g of fruit and vegetables a day has been proven to help us stay healthy. Fruit and vegetables taste delicious and there's so much variety to choose from.

They're a good source of vitamins and minerals, including folate, vitamin C and potassium.

They're an excellent source of dietary fibre, which helps maintain a healthy gut and prevent constipation and other digestion problems. A diet high in fibre can also reduce your risk of bowel cancer.

They can help reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and some cancers. Fruit and vegetables contribute to a healthy and balanced diet.

If you take even some light exercise daily, you'll help your body maintain good health and lessen the risk of serious illnesses such as heart disease.

· Drink less alcohol

After smoking and poor eating and exercise habits, the next biggest self-inflicted killer we continually ignore is the excessive drinking of alcohol. A recent US Government study suggested that excessive alcohol consumption kills some 75,000 Americans each year.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which published the study, estimated that 34,833 people in 2001 died from cirrhosis of the liver, cancer and other diseases linked to drinking too much beer, wine and spirits. Another 40,933 died from car crashes and other mishaps caused by excessive alcohol use.

We can enjoy a drink with no problems whatsoever providing we do it responsibly and we're aware of the dangers of over indulgence. Indeed there is evidence to suggest that light or moderate alcohol intake can actually be beneficial to our health.

· Don't get burned!

We all love the feeling of sunshine on our skin but beware, like many other things excess can be dangerous. Excessive exposure to strong sunlight can cause painful sunburn, sunstroke and may lead to more serious conditions such as skin cancers.

Always be aware of the UV index rating for your area and take appropriate precautions.

Proper use of sunscreens, appropriate clothing and sensible durations of exposure to the sun will allow all of us to enjoy the summer with none of the ill effects mentioned here.

· Be Happy!

Good health as I said at the beginning of this article is not just about avoiding or being aware of the physical dangers that are prevalent in our society; it's as much dependent on our mood, our outlook as anything else.

Are you a glass half-full or glass half-empty sort of person?

If we approach life with a positive attitude and (despite what I've written about today), we don't take ourselves too seriously, we can do wonders for our general feeling of well-being.

Sure, there'll be good days and bad days, some will be infinitely better than others but if we pay heed to the information above and if we approach each day with a feeling of excitement and relish, we'll be more than ready for life's challenges and good health will stand it's best chance of staying with us.

Why Am I Sick All the Time?

Are you trying to figure out "Why am I sick all the time?" Find out now the real reason why you feel this way all the time with the 3 most common yet under-recognized causes for chronic poor health and ongoing health problems.

The 3 Reasons You Feel Ill

#1. Undiagnosed Allergies: You might not be aware of it, but quite often people suffer chronically from irritations and reactions to foods they eat every day and pollutants & chemicals in the air they weren't even aware of. Foods such as dairy, wheat, sugar, soy & corn are all recognized to cause some form of allergic reaction in over 50% of the population, some estimate as high as 80-90% of people suffer from allergies to these foods, most unknowingly.

Then there are the environmental factors, the pillow you sleep on at night the air in your home, the air you breathe at work. Everything needs to be observed in order to determine what is creating the negative reactions.

#2. Poor Diet: An extremely common situation is that people feel sick constantly, yet if they were to simply change their diet they would experience dramatic improvements in their overall health. A major culprit in this are processed foods and additives which trigger inflammation in the body and set the stage for disease to begin. You are what you eat is more than just a saying.

#3. Chronic Candida: This is an overgrowth of yeast that exists in over 90% of the population. In fact an estimated 80% of those with Candida in their body have an elevated level which could be considered an overgrowth. This overgrowth is the cause of a wide variety of symptoms which most people suffer from but have no idea the cause for. It disrupts digestive functions, impairs immune system function, and interrupts a great deal of other bodily functions.

If you address these 3 causes you will undoubtedly see tremendous improvements in your current health predicament. A good start is making dietary changes, be aware of what you eat and what you surround yourself with and take a Candida test to determine if it's a factor in your health problems.

Making it Smooth, With Roughage

Roughage, as the name suggests are material or substances of tough and hard nature, and well, this is what it really is: Roughage is material that we ingest, that our digestive system cannot digest. It enters our body and passes on through the entire system, it will get broken up to smaller pieces, but that's as far as it goes.

While it is diffused in water it is not dissolved so it cannot enter our blood system or lymph vessels. So what the heck is the use of it then since we cant digest it? Well you would be surprised as to how important it is although it sounds like a waste of good chewing energy. Observe......

The foods we eat produces waste matter that is of no use to our system any more, if this is allowed to remain within our system apart from being uncomfortable and subsequently painful, it is inherently toxic. This toxic will poison our system and start to propagate cancers in no time if not gotten rid of. Now for our colon muscles to grip this waste and push it out it needs something abrasive to hold on to.

This is where roughage comes in. Without it there would be no grip for the colon to hold on to, and the waste would stay in us and... well, you know what the consequences of that is. So don't be pushing your vegetables to one side of the plate, don't frown on that whole wheat bread, eat all of that fruit don't be peeling the skin off of it. Cause once you contract a bad colon its very hard to fix if ever it can.
