Looking Taller As We Get Older

It's a fact of life that there are many people around the world that wish they were a little taller than they currently are. It is possible to increase your height by exercise and following good diet practices to keep your bones strong. Having strong bones can be a key to improving your height and following these tips will help get you started.

Do you realize that when we are very young we have over 100 more bones in our bodies than we do as adults? Many of these bones are actually just cartilage and as we grow and reach puberty, this cartilage hardens and fuses together to form solid bone. Also we have what are called growth plates at the ends of our long bones that lengthen as we grow. When we stop growing these growth plates are done, they will not grow anymore.

As adults we can exercise to make us look taller. You can alter your physical appearance to give the illusion of being taller. If you are heavier than you care to be, slimming down will make you look taller. Exercising during puberty is when a person can gain the most benefit in their growth enhancement. Intense exercise while younger will release the hormones that are what give you your growth spurts.

Do not neglect a healthy diet as an adult or child. You need to fuel your body with the proteins, amino acids and calcium for strong bones and healthy tissue. If you lack calcium in your diet you would be allowing your bones to weaken and lose their density. Especially at an older age is calcium important along with exercise to prevent you from getting shorter
